What is Gemini Exchange?
Since 2015, Gemini Trust Company, listed as an LLC and governed by NYSDFS, has been providing exchange services.
According to a CNBC report, Gemini became the world’s first Ether license exchange in 2016. What is even more interesting is that the company is owned by Gemelli Winklevoss. If you do not know who they are, it is the Beijing Olympics, Ivy League graduates, and they are suing Mark Zuckerberg for $ 65 million. In 2013, they announced they own more than $ 11 million worth of Bitcoin! In addition, with the current price skyrocketing, you can only imagine how much those coins cost today. Clearly, people who believe in cryptocurrency and how it can multiply its value over the years run the company.
Trading with Gemini.com
Now that we have created an account with their sandbox-trading platform let, we try to play around with it. We inform you that their live account is precisely the same as in this sandbox version. The only difference is that in their trial version, you have the money to play.
At the top left of the trading platform, we have the BUY and SELL tabs. The preview screenshot shows the “BUY” tab where the trader is positioned to place some buy orders. The sample shows the BTC / USD currency pair. Select the type of order, the price per BTC, the amount of BTC the order needs, and the total USD will be calculated below.
The right side panel shows the current account value you have with Gemini.com. Below the account value, we have the balance for USD, BTC, and ETH. Overall, their sandbox platform was great, as we were able to click on a few numbers and experience what they have for their verified customers.
Taxes! While we did not get a chance to play the actual trading platform, we looked at the website and read more about their services. We found that their taker/maker fee starts at 0.25%. This will really depend on how long the trading takes place.
Deposit and Withdrawals
Now what is impressive is that they do not charge anything for all deposits and withdrawals that take place on the website. This indicates that their withdrawals and deposits are FREE. Although they have made it clear that they do not accept bank charges, but they do not charge any transactions in and out of the website. This is great, given the fact that they charge very high maker/taker fees.
Due to our experience exchanging website reviews, we have found that most of the problems come from their customer service. Several websites are receiving negative reviews because their customer service team has not provided appropriate resolutions for their problems. Most of these complaints we have seen come from websites that only have email support for backing up their websites.
The problem with email support is that it would take reps days to dig through their queue and troubleshoot. By the time they get to your situation, it is either already solved, or you do not care anymore, which leads to losing customers.
Here at Gemini.com, they have a Zen desk email method that anyone can obtain. Do they respond quickly? We have no idea. If you have emailed them through this system, please let us know in the comments section below.

While we may not have tried their actual trading platform, the review was great. We got to try out their sandbox website and reached a sneak peek at how things are unfolding. Their website is instinctive and simple to work with. Their rates may not be great, but this can improve over time.
